Carpooling Tips
The hardest part of starting a carpool is the unknown of sharing your daily commute with someone else. Here are some tips to help get you started:
Sharing driving responsibilities is a big perk of carpooling. driver rotation is a decision that should include your fellow carpoolers.
Discuss how you will hold each other accountable for driving safely; not talking on a cell phone when driving, avoiding road rage, etc.
Follow a daily schedule that ensures everyone in the carpool knows the times and locations for pick-ups and drop-offs. Expectations should be set on how long you wait for members.
It’s a good idea to have policies such as if vehicles are non-smoking and if wearing a seat belt will be mandatory.
Having everyone’s contact information, including cell phone numbers and email addresses. This allows you the opportunity to inform of schedule changes, illness, etc.
